What to do with Devonta Freeman in Week 13 fantasy football

The Falcons will get back Devonta Freeman in Week 13. We break down whether or not he’s worth starting in fantasy football on Thanksgiving.

The brief Brian Hill era would appear to be over in the Atlanta Falcons backfield. Three weeks after spraining his foot against the New Orleans Saints, running back Devonta Freeman is set to return to the backfield for the Thanksgiving rematch.

Freeman missed the past two weeks and did not practice with the team during that time. This week, he got in a limited workout on the estimated Monday practice report, was a full participant on Tuesday, and was removed entirely from the Wednesday report. He is not a game-time decision, he will play.

Fantasy football analysis: Falcons RB Devonta Freeman

The question for fantasy football players is whether or not even a fully Freeman is worth the start. In PPR leagues, he’s still a solid play given his work in the passing game. However, in standard leagues, it’s a tougher call. He has two games in which he rushed for 88 rushing yards in each game, but then otherwise has not exceeded 39 rushing yards. You’re betting on him piling up some receiving yards at this point.

The Saints have given up the fourth fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. Freeman is not a bad start in PPR leagues, but in standard leagues, you should look for better options on your roster.

Start/Sit Recommendation

PPR: Start
Standard: Sit if you’ve got a decent alternative
