How to handle T.J. Hockenson injury in Week 13 fantasy football

T.J. Hockenson has a bum shoulder but is expected to play. Can he help your fantasy football team on Thanksgiving?

T.J. Hockenson practiced in full on Wednesday and is expected to play against the Bears in the early Thanksgiving game. The rookie has recently lost snaps to Jesse James and Logan Thomas, likely due to his shoulder injury, but as he’s coming into this game as questionable, there’s a good chance he will again share work.

His Week 1 explosion against the Cardinals set all of us up for a hard fall, as he hasn’t come close to his 6/131/1 line in Arizona. Since then he has 20 receptions in ten games and has only hit four receptions once in that stretch.

Fantasy football analysis: Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson

Hockenson faced the Bears in Week 10 and caught 3-of-6 targets for 47 yards. That game was actually one of his better outings this season. On the year, the Bears have given up the sixth-most tight end points and the fifth-most receptions.

If Hockenson were getting big snaps and consistent targets, this would be a good place to start him, but with four targets over his last two games and limited practice this week due to his shoulder, I don’t think we can feel good about starting him.
