New England Patriots kicker Nick Folk is out for Week 13 due to an appendectomy, according to beat writer Mike Petraglia. He had the procedure early Thursday morning and it was done laparoscopically, according to Ian Rapoport. This makes for a shorter recovery time and Rapoport thinks he could be back in Week 14.
The Patriots will be on their fourth kicker of the season in light of this. Stephen Gostkowski went on IR and the team signed Mike Nugent as his replacement. Nugent was inconsistent over four games and was replaced by Folk.
Fantasy football analysis: Patriots kicker
You likely are settled at the kicker position, but whomever the Patriots sign for this weekend’s game against the Houston Texans will be a decent starting option. The Texans defense is shaky at best, and opens the door for serious scoring opportunities.
A late season kicker addition is not usually a great option, but if you’re streaming kickers each week, you could do worse than whomever the Patriots sign.
