The Miami Dolphins appeared set to turn their backfield over to running back Kenyan Drake in 2019, but it turned into a messy situation. The Dolphins were going to be a bad team regardless, so even as he struggled to get on track, Drake was always going to be a trade chip in the South Florida rebuilding price.
The Dolphins made the move on Monday, October 28th — one day before the 2019 NFL trade deadline. They dealt Drake to the Arizona Cardinals in exchanged for a conditional sixth round pick. The pick could upgrade to a fifth round pick depending on how Drake performs the rest of the season.
The Cardinals needed a running back for Week 9 with David Johnson and Chase Edmonds both sidelined. As they return, the fantasy football implications will get messy. Drake rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown and led the team with four receptions for 52 yards. It’s safe to say he’s earned a spot in the rotation moving forward. What it is, however, is still to be determined.
We’ll be tracking his fantasy performance throughout the 2019 regular season, including his traditional and DFS numbers and salary.
