Aaron Jones comes back to earth with Week 9 fantasy performance

Aaron Jones struggled in all departments a week after a monster game. We break down the fantasy football implications of his Week 9 performance.

It’s been a roller coaster of a season for Green Bay Packers running back Aaron, and the coaster came back down in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Packers offense struggled to get going, and Jones’ numbers suffered. Jones managed only eight carries for 30 yards and a single reception for a one-yard loss on four targets. A week after a monster 44.6 DKFP performance, Jones finished with 3.9 DKFP.

Jones finished with one more touch than backup Jamaal Williams, who had two rushes for ten yards and six receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown. It’s the first time this season Jones has finished with single digit carries and was only the third time he’s had less than at least four receptions. Davante Adams returned for the Packers and led the team with 11 targets, so one has to wonder how that will negatively impact Jones’ work in the passing game moving forward.

The Packers host the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. In spite of the poor performance, Jones’ price climbed $400 and he is now installed at $7,400. The Panthers gave up 99 total yards to Derrick Henry in Week 9, but also gave up a pair of touchdowns. On the season, the Panthers have given up the fifth most fantasy points to the running back position.
