Keenan Allen has hit a rough patch of late, as usage and injuries have made for some inconsistent play. He now has just 154 yards over his last three games and saw only four targets last week against the Packers. He also had a lousy touchdown drop against the Bears two weeks ago.
Allen’s targets haven’t all been bad. On the year they’ve gone, 10, 15, 17, 6, 6, 6, 11, 10, 4 on the season. Last week was a difficult matchup against the Packers who rank 10th in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers. This week he gets a Raiders secondary that ranks 31st.
Fantasy football analysis: Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen
With Hunter Henry back in the fold, targets will be thinned out some, but Allen is still the No. 1 receiver and quite a good one at that. Add into the account that he has been scuffling of late, and I believe Phillip Rivers will get him the ball in this plus matchup.
Oakland ranks 29th in DVOA against the pass and 11th against the run. Melvin Gordon will still get his goal-line work on the ground, but to move the ball, I expect the Chargers to take to the sky. This game also has a good 49 point over/under and just a 1 point line. The odds look great for a close, high-scoring affair, where Rivers will need to target all his playmakers to come out on top.
Traditional Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
DraftKings DFS Recommendation
Allen’s price has dipped since his slump, all the way to $6,100 in the Thursday-Monday slate and $11,000 in the TNF Showdown. Both prices are too low for Allen’s place in the Chargers pecking order and his ability.
