UPDATE: The 49ers have listed Kittle as doubtful for Week 10.
UPDATE: George Kittle missed his second straight practice, and appears a longer shot to play. Beat writer Nick Wagoner is hearing Kittle might miss a second game as well.
The San Francisco 49ers have a big question mark with tight end George Kittle dealing with knee and ankle issues. Head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that Kittle will not practice on Thursday and is day-to-day, according to Jennifer Lee Chan. Shanahan would not rule Kittle out and said it would likely be a game-time decision.
Kittle injured his knee when he took a helmet to it last Thursday against the Arizona Cardinals. He returned to play, but he was off the field on the team’s final drive. Ross Dwelley has been the team’s backup tight end, with Levine Toilolo also an option.
Fantasy football analysis: 49ers TE George Kittle
Kittle seems a good bet to play, but game-time decisions for a Monday Night Football game are never ideal — especially when it’s a must start player like Kittle. The 49ers have two more practices on Friday and Saturday, so you’ll want to keep an eye out for more details heading into Sunday.
If there is nothing definitive Sunday morning, you might be forced to find an alternative and skip on Kittle — unless you are prepared to roll the dice on a potential goose egg. The other option is adding Ross Dwelley, Kittle’s backup so you have an option either way on Monday.
