Unbeatens LSU-Alabama, Penn State-Minnesota highlight Week 11 of college season

We get two monster matchups of unbeaten squads, although one is slightly bigger than the other.

Week 11 of the 2019 college football season is upon us and there is an opportunity for a little bit of chaos. We get a pair of matchups featuring unbeaten squads as the Minnesota Golden Gophers host the Penn State Nittany Lions at noon ET, and the Alabama Crimson Tide host the LSU Tigers at 3:30 p.m. ET.

It’s a bit of a surprise LSU vs. Alabama is not airing in prime time, but it will be a fun one regardless. LSU is second in the College Football Playoff rankings and Alabama is third. Craziness can and does happen in college football, especially when it involves the SEC, but this could effectively be an elimination game. Alabama does face ranked Auburn, so maybe a win does not complete the picture yet — but it’s a strong possibility the winner ends up in the playoff.

Alabama is a six-point favorite and -230 on the money line at DraftKings Sportsbook. Alabama has won eight straight in this series, with the last four by double digits.

The morning gets started with the undercard undefeated matchup. Penn State is currently ranked fourth in the College Football Playoff rankings. Minnesota is ranked No. 17, which is the lowest ranking for an unbeaten team. The next lowest is Baylor at No. 12.

This is far and away the biggest test for the Golden Gophers. Although they are unbeaten, they have no truly quality wins on their schedule. It’s no surprise they’re a 6.5-point home underdog at DraftKings Sportsbook. These two play every three years for the Governor’s Victory Bell. Penn State claimed the Bell with a 29-26 overtime victory in 2016 and has won five of the last six games between the two teams.
