The Atlanta Falcons expect to have quarterback Matt Ryan back in the lineup when they face the New Orleans Saints in Week 10. Ryan sprained his ankle in Week 7 and after missing Week 8 appears to have gotten healthy through the team’s Week 9 bye. He’s been a limited participant in practice, but head coach Dan Quinn told the media Ryan “is ready” for Sunday’s game, according to team reporter William McFadden.
Fantasy football analysis: Falcons QB Matt Ryan
Ryan’s return is significant for the entire roster. Matt Schaub did throw for 460 yards against the Seahawks, but it was unlikely he would maintain any semblance of consistency in the passing game. Ryan raises the floor of the passing game and each of the specific fantasy options.
The Saints have given up the 12th most fantasy points to the quarterback position. The Falcons-Saints rivalry makes for some entertaining games, but this is a tough one to figure. The Falcons are struggling and on track for a top five draft pick, while the Saints are in the hunt for the best record in the NFC. Even with the disparate teams, Ryan is an intriguing start in the Superdome. He’s not a must start, but he’s got a shot to over-perform compared to expectations in his return.
