JuJu Smith-Schuster pops up on Friday’s injury report with foot injury

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster warms up before playing the Indianapolis Colts at Heinz Field. Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster put in a limited practice on Friday. He was later listed as questionable due to a foot injury. If he is unable to go on Sunday against the Rams, Diontae Johnson will take over as the No. 1 with James Washington, also getting a boost in usage.

Smith-Schuster played through a toe injury a few weeks ago, and this could be an aggravation of that injury. We hopefully will learn more about the severity before lineups lock on Sunday, as the Steelers game against the Rams is a late matchup, and inactives will come in too late for most lineups.

The Steelers’ lead receiver has been inconsistent due to Mason Rudolph’s inconsistencies but has remained a productive fantasy player overall with 33 receptions for 459 yards and three touchdowns through half the season.

Ryan Switzer would likely take over for Smith-Schuster in the slot, and Washington and Johnson would get extra work. The presence of Jalen Ramsey on the outside, along with Rudolph’s proclivity for check-down passes, will keep the fantasy floor low for the Steelers’ wide receivers in Week 10.
