How to handle Baker Mayfield in Week 13 fantasy football

With Mayfield and the offense starting to click with no pressure, it may be time to go all-in. We break down whether you should start or sit the QB this week.

It’s like deja vu, right? Last season, when nothing was on the line, we saw the Cleveland Browns and Baker Mayfield come to life and the offense went bonkers. Now, the same sort of thing is happening, though I guess at 5-6 the Browns have a realistic shot at making the playoffs. So I guess that whole narrative goes out the window ...

Anyway, let’s look at Mayfield’s recent performances. He’s played well over Cleveland’s three-game winning streak, the best game coming in Week 12 vs. the Miami Dolphins. Mayfield threw for 327 and three TDs for 27.58 fantasy points, which was a season high. Before this week, Mayfield had played well with at least two TDs in back-to-back games, but Jesus has he been the model of mediocrity in fantasy this season.

Fantasy Football Analysis: Cleveland Brown QB Baker Mayfield

Despite mediocrity for most of the season, I’m riding the Mayfield wave into Week 13 vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. Right now, the Lers are somewhat unravelling with everything surrounding Mason Rudolph and Myles Garrett the last time these teams played. I think the game will be chippy, but the Browns are more hungry and have been the better team recently. I think Odell Beckham Jr. is hitting a stride of sorts and Jarvis Landry is in that same boat. Plus you’ve got Nick Chubb — I mean damn, on a side note, how has this offense struggled at all this season? It’s insanity.

So I know the Steelers are tougher at home and their defense has been carrying them lately, but again, I’m riding this wave in, fam. I think Mayfield is a viable start in 12-team leagues and depending on who is on your roster, 8 or 10-team formats.
