How to handle Jordan Howard’s injury in Week 13 fantasy football

Howard is closer, but he’s probably not playing this week. Here’s how to handle Philly’s running back situation in an attractive matchup.

UPDATE: The Eagles downgraded Howard to OUT on Saturday, per Adam Caplan.

Is there anything that makes fantasy football planning easier than a matchup against the Miami Dolphins? Not really. Maybe a game against the Bengals. At any rate, this is a good week to look to the Philadelphia Eagles running backs, expect for maybe Jordan Howard who is still dealing with a shoulder injury.

The Philadelphia Eagles listed Howard as questionable on this week’s injury report. But you should temper your excitement. Howard has still not been cleared for contact, which could make playing football—even against the Dolphins—a difficult proposition.

In other words, you better get to know the backup options for the Eagles this week.

While there still is no official designation as to whether Howard will play, you should bet against it. This is an excellent week for the team to let him rest and recover. They have Miles Sanders and Jay Ajayi to work in his place.

Sanders has been the go-to running back with Howard out. He had 63 yards on 12 carries in a loss to the Seahawks last week. He should feast this week. And at $5,400 in DK leagues this week, he’s a steal.

Ajayi presents an interesting opportunity as well. He won’t get the work that Sanders does, but the chance to break off a big play against his old team gives him some limited value at a paltry $3,000 in DK leagues.
