How to handle Matt Breida in Week 13 fantasy football

It looks like Breida will be back in action this week. Here’s how to plan accordingly.

After two weeks out of action, it looks like Matt Breida will return to the field for a potential Super Bowl preview this week when the San Francisco 49ers take on the Baltimore Ravens.

Breida has been dealing with an ankle injury off and on this season. He re-injured it back in Week 10 against Seattle. However, he finally returned to practice this week, for the first time since hurting his ankle earlier this month, and that puts him on track to play this week.

His return raises some questions about the Niners running back rotation, questions that you will need to get a handle on before making any fantasy decisions for Week 13. Let’s take a look.

Tevin Coleman has taken over the lead back role for the Niners. However, he has not been especially productive. Last week against the Packers, he only managed 39 yards on 11 carries, though he did score a touchdown. The week before that, Coleman had a terrible game against the Cardinals with 14 yards on 12 carries.

Coleman is a full thousand bucks more than Breida in DK leagues this week, $5,900 to $4,900. You have to treat him as the lead back, but at this point it feels like Breida has more upside.
