The Houston Texans are in the process of absolutely rolling the New England Patriots in Week 13, and quarterback DeShaun Watson has been the star of the game. Through just under three full quarters, Watson has thrown for 192 yards with three touchdowns and a 135.3 rating. He has only scrambled for one yard on two rushes, but his mobility has been critical to preventing sacks on Sunday Night Football.
The Texans are up 21-3 late in the third quarter, and Watson has them on track to improve their position atop the AFC South. If the Texans hold on for the win, they’ll move to two games back of the Patriots and Baltimore Ravens for a first round bye. They’d still be a ways back, but the win would give them some important momentum.
Watson has outplayed Tom Brady in every conceivable way tonight. Brady has thrown for only 97 yards with one interception. Bradley Roby and the Texans defense have been critical, with a pick six and another near interception.
Waton’s performance has been impressive in part because of his ability to spread the ball around. Running back Duke Johnson leads the team with four receptions, and star receiver DeAndre Hopkins has only two receptions for 30 yards. Add in only 32 rushing yards by the running backs and the offense has been all about Watson in a critical game.
