All the odds info you need for Notre Dame vs. Iowa State in the Camping World Bowl

The Fighting Irish and Cyclones square off in the 2019 Camping World Bowl. We break down some of the early odds.

For the first time ever, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Iowa State Cyclones will be playing a football game against one another. It’s happening in the Camping World Bowl in the afternoon leading up to the College Football Playoff semifinals. Not a bad little appetizer to get you ready for the big boys.

Notre Dame enters the game as 3.5-point favorites as the Irish put together a 10-win season with a six-point loss to Georgia and an embarrassing blowout loss to Michigan. Notre Dame rallied and closed out the season with a five-game winning streak, averaging nearly 40 points a game in that stretch.

Iowa State is an interesting team in that it comes in with a record of 7-5, but the Cyclones could be much more than that. Here are the teams they lost to this season with the point differential in parentheses: Iowa (1), Baylor (2), Oklahoma State (7), Oklahoma (1) and Kansas State (10). It’s pretty fascinating to see Iowa State was 11 points away from being undefeated going into the regular season finale against Kansas State.

Initial Betting Analysis

Notre Dame should be the favorite here and should be able to cover the spread, but Iowa State is such a tricky team. The Cyclones sometimes lose games they have no business losing, but they come to play in big games. Iowa State beat Texas this season, was a two-point conversion away from upsetting Oklahoma and nearly beat Baylor. This is a tough matchup to predict, but I’m leaning toward betting on Notre Dame’s recent offensive success to continue for an Irish cover.
