A few hours before you settle in for the College Football Playoff, the Outback Bowl between the Auburn Tigers and Minnesota Golden Gophers should be on your television screen.

Minnesota is coming off one of its best regular seasons in program history with a 10-2 record that included a win over Penn State and losses to Wisconsin and Iowa. Auburn finished 9-3 with the highlight of taking down Alabama in the Iron Bowl, crushing the Tide’s shot at the College Football Playoff.

If you backed both of these teams recently, you’re likely making a nice little profit. Dating back to last season, Auburn is 10-3 against the spread, while Minnesota is 6-2-1 against the number in its last nine games.

Auburn -7.5, 51.5

Initial Betting Analysis

I lean toward Minnesota on the spread especially at more than a touchdown, but I am very confident this one gets over the 51.5 total. This is not your typical Gophers team as they have a dangerous passing game with talented wide receivers. On the other side, Auburn just put up 48 points against Alabama. There are points to be had in this game, and I’d jump on that over before the total gets any higher.
