The Philadelphia 76ers (17-7) have been absolutely dominant at home this season, and host the Denver Nuggets (14-7) on Tuesday night. This is probably the most intriguing game on the four-game NBA slate tonight from a competitive standpoint. The Sixers are 12-0 at Wells Fargo Center this season and have won each of their past 17 home games at night. Philly has also covered the spread in five of the past six games against Denver. Let’s break down the spread, point total and line.
Nuggets vs. Sixers spread, over/under, money line
Spread: Sixers (-4)
Money line: Sixers (-180), Nuggets (+150)
The Sixers are tough to get a gauge on, but it seems they’re playing more consistent basketball lately. They’ve won eight of 10 games and are tough at home, so this spread seems like something they should be able to cover. Problem is the Nuggets are very similar in play style: slow pace, halfcourt basketball. This could keep the game close and down to a few possessions. I’m going to bank on the Sixers covering though, mostly because they’re playing better ball right now.
As for the O/U, the Nuggets have hit the UNDER in five of the past six games, and both teams are in the top 10 in defensive rating, plus play at a slow pace. We should see a lot of Nikola Jokic vs. Joel Embiid down low, plus neither team shoots a ton of 3-pointers (looking at you Ben Simmons). So the UNDER would be where I lean. Straight-up on the ML, I think the Sixers stay undefeated at Wells Fargo, so I’m not too enticed by the plus-odds for Denver.
