The Detroit Lions are placing wide receiver Marvin Jones on injured reserve with an ankle injury, according to beat writer Dave Birkett. Jones suffered the injury late in Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings, but he stayed in the game to avoid an injury stoppage, per Birkett.

Jones finished the game with three receptions for 38 yards on seven targets. He finished the season with 62 receptions for 779 yards and nine touchdowns, and was on pace for career highs in receptions and touchdowns before the injury.

Fantasy football analysis: Lions wide receivers

Kenny Golladay and Danny Amendola are the only significant pass catching options remaining on the Lions roster for the final three weeks. Jones joins tight end T.J. Hockenson on IR to close out the year, leaving QB David Blough that much more short-handed heading into Week 15.

The Lions face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who have a strong run defense but a bad pass defense. Golladay is going to be a solid volume fantasy play in most formats, while Amendola is a quality PPR play.
