UPDATE: Rondo is good to go, per Lakers coach Frank Vogel, and will return for Friday’s game vs. the Heat.
Frank Vogel says Rajon Rondo (hamstring) is a go for the Heat game.— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) December 13, 2019
So with Rondo back in the fold, we should see less of Avery Bradley and Alex Caruso tonight. Bradley was already on a minutes restriction, so he isn’t a viable play, though we don’t know how much Rondo will play. If Rondo isn’t held back, he’s a decent season-long play as a FLEX, but really the Heat have good defensive guard play. This may cut into LeBron James’ usage a bit, but I still think James is a top GPP play on DK at $10,000.
December 13th, UPDATE: Rondo has now been upgraded to probable for Friday’s game vs. the Heat.
Rajon Rondo will be listed as probable and Kyle Kuzma is out for tonight’s game against the Heat.— Tania Ganguli (@taniaganguli) December 13, 2019
Kyle Kuzma will remain out but it seems like Rondo is going to give it a go tonight. If that’s the case, we should see less of Alex Caruso and virtually no minutes for Quinn Cook. It’s also a slight hit to Kentavius Caldwell-Pope and Avery Bradley. Plus, the matchup is tough vs. Miami.
December 12th, UPDATE: Davis is listed as probable and Rondo is questionable for Friday vs. the Miami Heat. Davis has been probable a ton over the last two weeks, and keeps playing, so I can’t imagine he missed this game. Rondo has missed the past two games for the Lakers and we’ll see if he comes back. He was a GTD last night.
UPDATE #4: So Rondo hasn’t gotten into the game and it looks like he’s out tonight. The Lakers are already up big on the Magic, so there’s really no reason for Rondo to play anyway.
UPDATE #3: Davis will start and there’s still no word on Rondo. We’ll keep an eye out for updates as the game has already locked and tip-off is soon.
UPDATE #2: Rondo is a game-time call tonight. Avery Bradley (leg) will return to the lineup off the bench, but is only expected to play around 15 minutes.
Rajon Rondo (hamstring) is a true game-time decision. They’re going to see how he feels after warming up.— Mike Trudell (@LakersReporter) December 11, 2019
The game is early, so hopefully we get word on Rondo within the hour. If he’s out again, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ($3,800) and Alex Caruso ($3,900) are good values on DraftKings.
UPDATE: Rondo remains questionable for tonight and Davis is still probable. SF/PF Kyle Kuzma (ankle) has been ruled out.
Kyle Kuzma is OUT tonight with a left ankle sprain. Avery Bradley has been upgraded to PROBABLE. Rajon Rondo is QUESTIONABLE.— Kyle Goon (@kylegoon) December 11, 2019
Davis is probable with the shoulder injury and Rondo is questionable with a hamstring injury. Davis has been probable for about 2-3 weeks now, listed on every injury report. So I don’t know why the Lakers keep throwing him on there if he keeps playing. Rondo was injured last Friday vs. the Trail Blazers and was ruled out Sunday vs. the Timberwolves.
Fantasy Basketball Analysis: Los Angeles Lakers
I won’t go into anything on AD, he should play and he’s been dominating lately, so you know what to do. As for Rondo, the Lakers used Alex Caruso plenty off the bench on Sunday, so if Rondo is back, Caruso should see fewer minutes. Quinn Cook also played 10 minutes, so he could go back to playing only in garbage time if Rondo returns.
