It’s the Virginia Cavaliers up against the Florida Gators in the Orange Bowl in one of the best coaching matchups you’ll see in bowl season.

The Virginia football program continues to get better and better, and year three under Bronco Mendenhall resulted in a first-place finish in the ACC Coastal only to get blown out by Clemson a week later. The Hokies are led by dual threat quarterback Bryce Perkins, a very exciting player to watch.

For Florida, Dan Mullen took over a 4-7 team and the Gators have secured double-digit wins in each of his two seasons in Gainesville. Kyle Trask has been the starter for much of the season filling in for an injured Feleipe Franks, who has since entered the transfer portal. Florida will be without CJ Henderson, who declared for the draft and will not play in the bowl game.

Initial Betting Analysis

This is a game in which Florida should blow the doors off of Virginia. The Cavaliers’ biggest struggle is on the offensive line, and the Gators should be able to do some damage in the backfield. I’m confident Florida will cover the spread, which is less than two touchdowns. I’d get in on that bet now before the number gets to 14.
