Breaking down Week 15 line movement as of Wednesday morning

We’ve got a few interesting lines in Week 15, with some unexpected movement.

The NFL opens up Week 15 in a little over 24 hours with the final Thursday Night Football of the year, and that also means we’ve reached the main part of the practice week for 14 of the 16 games on the schedule.

The start of the main practice week means we will see practice participation reports and get a better handle on which players are more hurt than previously let on. Decisions to sit players on Wednesday are not the be-all, end-all of information, but it gives us an idea of what to track as the week moves along. And certain key names could move point spreads.

With that in mind, here is where the Week 15 point spreads sit heading into the start of the practice week. We’ve got several lines that have moved over a point in either direction. Where you fade or follow the public, this kind of movement is worth noting and will inform some decision-making.

The biggest move belongs to Rams-Cowboys. Dallas opened as a field goal favorite, but given how mediocre they have been, it’s no surprise all the money is on the Rams. LA is now a half-point favorite, and it’s hard to see Dallas recovering on the line. Maybe we’re finally getting a little Dallas value.

I find it interesting that the Raiders moved from five points favorites all the way to 6.5 midway into the week. I suspect the betting public sees one of two things: 1) the Jaguars are abysmal and not going anywhere, and/or 2) this is the Raiders final game in Oakland and maybe they’ll look to go out on a strong note.

One line that seems a little odd is the Patriots dropping from ten point favorites to nine point favorites. New England is traveling to Cincinnati, and the Bengals are a bad football team. In light of this quasi-cheating scandal that has erupted over the Patriots video team filming an advanced scout and in turn a bunch of the sideline, would anybody be surprised to see Bill Belichick run up the score? Maybe it’s nothing, but it wouldn‘t exactly shock me.

Here’s a rundown of line movement as of Wednesday morning.
