With the big man sidelined Wednesday night, we break down how to approach betting on Milwaukee-New Orleans on DK Sportsbook.

We got some big news this afternoon in the NBA surrounding the League’s hottest team. The Milwaukee Bucks will be without star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo tonight when they take on the New Orleans Pelicans at home. The Bucks have a 15-game winning streak on the line and will be without the leading candidate to win MVP. Let’s take a look at the lines on DraftKings Sportsbook and how to approach betting on the game.

Pelicans vs. Bucks betting analysis

Spread: Bucks (-10)
Over/Under: 232.5
Money line: Bucks (-530), Pelicans (+400)

So there are a few ways to approach this. First is the Bucks are without their best player, therefore the Pelicans should stay in the game. After the Giannis news the line was -11.5 and has been bet down, so a lot of the money is pouring in on the Pels. I still think the Bucks can cover this spread without Giannis considering how horrible New Orleans has been defensively. The Pels are still 27th in defensive rating and are on a nine-game losing streak.

I think the Bucks take a hit on defense without Antetokounmpo, but not by much. Realistically their offense should be more balanced without Giannis, but also I can imagine they hit this O/U. Both teams play at a fast pace, but I think no Giannis will mean Milwaukee puts an emphasis on defense.

As for the money line, right now you’d think the Pelicans are more appealing getting those odds. The Bucks are good, but aren’t nearly the same team sans Greek Freak. New Orleans has a shot to steal one on the road and potentially end the streak, so it’s worth the risk in my eyes. Though, I still think Milwaukee will ultimately win and I’d follow the spread closely.
