UPDATE: Hayward will be available to play Thursday vs. the Sixers.
Gordon Hayward is officially available to play tonight. Finally, he has sidestepped missing any games due to an injury.— Marc D'Amico (@Marc_DAmico) December 12, 2019
Hayward took a hit to the nose last night vs. the Pacers, but is shaking off the injury and will play tonight. He’s OK to use in season-long formats, but on a short four-game DFS slate, I’d lean against targeting players from Sixers-Celtics. Nuggets-Trail Blazers and Cavs-Spurs are better environments for fantasy basketball points.
UPDATE: Hayward is listed as probable for Thursday’s game vs. the 76ers after leaving last night with a facial contusion. Hayward got popped in the nose by Dougie McDermott and didn’t return for the fourth quarter. It appears he’s OK and will give it a go tonight. This should be a tight game with standings implications in the Eastern Conference, so if Hayward plays I’d imagine he’ll get a usual allotment of minutes.
#NEBHInjuryReport Gordon Hayward (blow to the nose) will not return tonight.— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 12, 2019
Hayward took the shot from Pacers SF Doug McDermott in the fourth quarter and had to go right to the locker room. This was just the second game for Hayward back in the lineup since returning from a fractured hand against the Cavaliers on Monday. He was productive in 26 minutes against Cleveland, scoring 14 points with five rebounds and four assists.
In a positive update, Hayward doesn’t have a broken nose and the injury doesn’t appear serious. He told reporters he was a bit dizzy after getting hit in the face and hopes that he will be back to 100% by tomorrow. It doesn’t appear that he’s in too much danger of having to miss games.
