Two key QB starts, two QB sits to consider for Week 15 fantasy football

One matchup offers a pair of great starts in a potential shootout. We break down Week 15 fantasy football start/sit considerations at the quarterback position.

There are a few notable matchups for quarterbacks in Week 15 that fantasy owners can target or avoid in either their seasonal leagues or in DraftKings contests. Let’s examine to figure out the best start and sit options for DFS and semifinal matchups in traditional fantasy leagues.

Quarterback Starts

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals vs. Cleveland Browns

Murray is coming off two subpar fantasy outings, both against better than average defenses in the Rams and Steelers. Murray is set for a softer matchup against the Browns this week, and because of his recent string of subpar fantasy outings, Murray could provide some value for fantasy owners in DraftKings contests this week. Murray’s price has fallen to $5,600, his lowest since Week 2 and outside the top 20 QBs in DraftKings salary. Murray also carries start appeal in seasonal leagues against a Browns defense that has been hurt by QBs on the ground. Cleveland is tied for the second most rushing TDs allowed to QBs and has allowed the seventh most rushing yards to QBs. Murray’s 35 rushing yards per game ranks second among QBs behind only Lamar Jackson. In addition, the game’s total points of 48 on DraftKings Sportbook is one of the higher point totals in Week 15, so the game could feature a plus amount of scoring.

Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns at Arizona Cardinals

Mayfield’s $6,400 price tag on DraftKings this week is one of his higher prices of the season, but he is a highly appealing start option against the worst defense against QBs. Arizona has allowed opposing QBs to generate a league-high 113.9 QB rating, far worse than the league average of 91.2. Arizona has also allowed opposing QBs to generate the most DraftKings fantasy points per game by a comfortable margin. Mayfield’s elite matchup also makes him an excellent start candidate in seasonal leagues.

Quarterback Sits

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills at Pittsburgh Steelers

Allen’s 20.3 DraftKings fantasy points per game ranks in the top 10 among QBs in Week 15, but this is not a great week to start him, especially given Pittsburgh’s home numbers. Overall, Pittsburgh has limited QBs to the eighth fewest DraftKings points per game and have held QBs to the fifth lowest passer rating. Pittsburgh’s play against QBs has also been elite at home, holding QBs to a passer rating of 76.9 in Pittsburgh, significantly below the league average of 91.2.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears

Rodgers has thrown one touchdown pass or fewer in four of his last five games, scoring more than 13 DraftKings fantasy points just once over that stretch. Rodgers is not set up for a good matchup this week, either, as he faces a Bears defense that has been strong at limiting fantasy points to QBs and ranks as a top four defense at preventing points. The game is expected to be low-scoring, as the total points of 40.5 on DraftKings Sportbook ranks third lowest in Week 15. In Rodgers’ first matchup against the Bears, he recorded just 12.92 DraftKings fantasy points and was sacked five times. Rodgers could struggle to find the end zone in this matchup.
