Happy Friday the 13th everybody! If you’re not too busy watching a Jason marathon on AMC — I actually checked and it’s not on. Bummer. Stupid Christmas season. Okay, I’m not a Scrooge or anything, but when it’s Friday the 13th you watch Jason Voorhees slice and dice. Anyway, we’ve got nine games in the NBA on DraftKings’ main slate for Friday night. We’ll all be monitoring to see if Giannis Antetokounmpo can get back in the lineup for the Milwaukee Bucks as they look to extend their winning streak to 17 games. Other than that, we’ve got a lot of options to sift through, so let’s get after it.
Devonte’ Graham, CHA at CHI, $8,300 — The Bulls are an average defensive team and have guards who can play defense, but Graham has just been on one lately. He’s coming off a career-high 40 points in a win over the Brooklyn Nets, good for 56.25 DKFP. His price jumped all the way up to $9K a few games ago vs. the Atlanta Hawks, so this is a decent price point. I think in GPPs, Graham is a great option at lowish ownership.
Other Options: Ben Simmons, PHI vs. NOP, $8,200; Donovan Mitchell, UTA vs. GSW, $8,100; Eric Bledsoe, MIL at MEM, $6,700
Buddy Hield, SAC vs. NYK, $7,100 — I’m going back to the Hield well tonight vs. the New York Knicks, who still can’t defend the 3-point line. Hield’s price remains very appealing despite a string of solid performances. He’s got at least 34.5 DKFP in 12 straight games, so at this price, we’re looking at the likelihood of Hield hitting 5x value easily. I think he’s good cash play and is even viable in GPPs given his ceiling in this matchup.
Other Option: Zach LaVine, CHI vs. CHA, $8,000; Khris Middleton, MIL at MEM, $6,800; Joe Ingles, UTA vs. GSW, $5,800
Ben Simmons, PHI vs. NOP, $8,200 — So the Sixers may be without Al Horford again tonight and we’ve seen Joel Embiid rest on back-to-backs in the past. If those two end up being out, I love Simmons in GPPs and cash. His price is reasonable and we know his ceiling is a triple-double. With no Embiid, Simmons will be asked to score a bit more. Plus, the Pelicans are awful defensively and play up in pace.
Other Options: Paul George, LAC at MIN, $8,800; Harrison Barnes, SAC vs. NYK, $5,500; Jae Crowder, MEM vs. MIL, $5,100
Domantis Sabonis, IND at ATL, $8,100 — Sabonis extended his double-double streak to 10 games on Wednesday vs. the Boston Celtics. This is a great matchup vs. the Atlanta Hawks, who rank 28th in opponent offensive rebounds per game (11.6). Sabonis should have an easy time cleaning the glass and he’s a strong cash-game play in my eyes.
Other Options: Tobias Harris, PHI vs. NOP, $7,200; Julius Randle, NYK at SAC, $6,900; Lauri Markkanen, CHI vs. CHA, $6,300
Jonas Valanciunas, MEM vs. MIL, $6,500 — I also like Jaren Jackson Jr. ($6,200) in this spot vs. the Milwaukee Bucks. If Giannis is sidelined again, this matchup is soft for Jonas, who should see more touches with both Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke sitting out tonight. We’ve seen Valanciunas go voer 30 points a few times recently, so his ceiling is high for tournaments.
Other Options: Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN vs. LAC, $9,900; Rudy Gobert, UTA vs. GSW, $8,300; Marvin Bagley, SAC vs. NYK, $6,200
