The changing of the guard may be among us in Seattle, as some may argue that DK Metcalf is the new WR1 in town. Metcalf seems to be a new favorite target of Russel Wilson, but that doesn’t mean there’s not enough room for more than one receiver to have fantasy value in this potent offense. We break down each player’s fantasy outlook for Week 15 below.
Tyler Lockett
Tyler Lockett got off to a hot start this season, but has been relatively quiet in recent weeks. After sustaining a lower leg injury in Week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers, Lockett has struggled to bounce back to the high level of production with which his season began. Lockett was averaging 19.0 points per game in his 9 games played prior to the Week 10 injury. Since he returned from injury in Week 12, Lockett has only averaged 4.4 points per game, including a goose egg in Week 13 vs. Minnesota. He will look to regain some ground this week against the Arizona Cardinals’2 32nd ranked pass defense. He will have a favorable match-up in this one, as the Cardinals have been friendly to slot receivers this season.
DK Metcalf
If you’re looking for a player who is getting consistent targets from an elite quarterback, Metcalf is your guy. He has averaged 7.6 targets from Russel Wilson since Week 9 and has scored greater than 11 fantasy PPR points in of seven of nine games since Week 5. Metcalf will look to continue his consistent output against a poor pass defense this week. There is a strong chance that Metcalf sees a lot of Patrick Peterson on the outside, but he has shown in recent weeks that he can handle tough cornerbacks. Last week, he had six receptions for 78 yards against a Rams defensive secondary led by Jalen Ramsey. He is able to make tough catches and Russel Wilson has not shyed away from throwing him the ball in contested situations. He has become a reliable fantasy wide receiver in his rookie year.
Josh Gordon
Since making his debut with the Seahawks in Week 10, Josh Gordon has only managed to average 3.5 fantasy points per game. The friendly match-up with the Arizona Cardinals and the fact that Patrick Peterson may spend most of the game focusing on DK Metcalf provide a slight upside for Gordon this week, but he is far from a reliable asset in the fantasy playoffs. Gordon is no more than a desperation flyer at this point in the season.
