I feel like I’ve been typing the same sentence for over a month now. The Milwaukee Bucks look to extend their winning streak to ... checks standings ... 19 games Monday night against the Dallas Mavericks. The Bucks will welcome in the Mavs, who are without the services of star Luka Doncic (ankle sprain). It would have been a must-see matchup between the two players with the best odds of winning NBA MVP this season in Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Instead, we get likely another easy victory for the Bucks. Or do we? Let’s take a look at how to approach betting the game on DK Sportsbook.
Mavericks vs. Bucks betting analysis
Spread: Bucks (-10.5)
Money line: Bucks (-625), Mavericks (+460)
Another game, another very wide spread for the Bucks at home. I can imagine it wouldn’t be this wide if Doncic were playing, but here we are. Milwaukee should be able to cover this, but I have a few concerns. Eric Bledsoe being out opens things up a bit and I think the books aren’t giving much credit to the rest of the Mavs roster and coach Rick Carlisle. I’m sort of getting suckered into taking the points with Dallas here. I’d maybe wait and see if the line shifts at all, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say the Mavs keep this closer than people think.
No Doncic hurts the OVER hitting but not by much. The Bucks are a good defensive team but have also scored over 125 points in three straight, and have allowed over 100 points in four straight. After Luka went down in the OT loss to the Heat, the Mavs still managed to drop 118 points, so they’re still a capable unit sans Doncic. I’m going to lean OVER still. Can’t say I’d trust the Mavs on the money line, but I do think the game will be close.
