Note: Towns has been ruled out tonight vs. the Pelicans.
We’ve got a nine-game main slate in the NBA on DraftKings for Wednesday night. We’ll be keeping an eye on a few injury spots, most notable Karl-Anthony Towns’ status for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is questionable due to a knee injury, and if he were to be ruled out, we’d get a few spots opening up. Let’s take a look at some salary-saving options to consider for your lineup on DraftKings tonight.
Josh Okogie, SG/SF, MIN vs. NOP ($3,900)
We’ll start things off with the T-Wolves and assuming KAT is sidelined. Okogie has been starting at guard and is playing a ton of minutes, averaging 27.9 minutes in seven games in December. He hasn’t been all that productive, but at this price and with Towns potentially out, I think Okogie can return value easily. He doesn’t have much of a ceiling, but has at least 24.25 DKFP in two of the past four games. Plus, this matchup is (Ferris Bueller impression) choice.
Josh Richardson, SG/SF, PHI vs. MIA ($4,900)
NARRATIVE ALERT!!!!! It’s Josh Richardson revenge night in the NBA. Yes, that’s the only thing that matters tonight. So Richardson will face his former team, the Miami Heat. He hasn’t been playing well and has been dealing with injury for most of the season. But I don’t care, I think if he can get at least 24-25 minutes, he should be able to return value at this price. The last time he faced the Heat? 32 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field and six 3-pointers.
Derrick Favors, PF/C, NOP at MIN ($4,700)
On the flip side of that MIN-NOP game, I really like Favors against the potentially KAT-less T-Wolves. Minnesota is already a poor rebounding team and could be without a key player down low. Favors has been back three games since taking a leave for personal reasons and he played 20 minutes vs. the Nets on Tuesday, scoring 27.75 DKFP. I think he can reach a double-double in this spot and would easily smash value.
Coby White, PG/SG, CHI vs. WAS ($4,100)
I think you need to attack this Chicago Bulls-Washington Wizards matchup from all price angles. White has been inconsistent this season as many rookie guards tend to be. But we know his ceiling is high given his ability to shoot and the Wizards don’t defend well and can’t stop 3-pointers. I think if White can get around 20 minutes, he should be able to sink a few shots and make a couple plays. This game should be high scoring and the Bulls tend to play close games.
