UPDATE: Hayward will miss his second straight game Friday when the Celtics take on the Detroit Pistons.

Hayward will miss his second straight game after being ruled out Wednesday vs. the Mavericks. Semi Ojeleye should start again, but isn’t a viable fantasy basketball play. We should see Brad Wanamaker, Enes Kanter and Grant Williams play most of the minutes in rotation with Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Daniel Theis.

Boston Celtics SG/SF Gordon Hayward has been ruled out for Wednesday night’s game vs. the Dallas Mavericks.

This is a bit of a surprise since Hayward hadn’t popped up on the injury report and his previous injury was a fractured hand. It could also be a way for the Celtics to get Hayward some rest with games coming up Friday and Sunday. Either way, the Celtics will need to announce a new starter for tonight vs. the Mavericks.

Fantasy Basketball Analysis: Boston Celtics SG/SF Gordon Hayward

With Hayward out, the Celtics’ rotation only gets thinner with Marcus Smart (eye) also sidelined. My guess is Semi Ojeleye ($3,300) will start for Hayward, but won’t be much of a value on DK or a factor in fantasy. Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum should all see north of 35 minutes if this game is competitive. I’d also expect bigger lineups with Enes Kanter ($4,200) and Daniel Theis ($4,200) to try and counteract Kristaps Porzingis and Dwight Powell on the other end.
