The Kansas City Chiefs backfield has been a mess this season, with injuries resulting in a different starter almost every week. It would not be surprising at all if it was fantasy football championship weekend that everything went to hell in a hurry for fantasy players.

Running back Damien Williams has missed the past month with a rib injury, and a late week downgrade last weekend had him inactive against the Denver Broncos. In Week 16, the Chiefs face the Chicago Bears, and Williams is still trying to work his way back. He has been listed as limited on the first two practice participation reports of this week. The Chiefs will get in one more practice on Friday and then the final injury designation

Fantasy football analysis: Chiefs running backs

It seems likely that Williams will be listed as questionable once again. The problem this week is that the Chiefs and Bears face off on Sunday Night Football. If you have Williams and one of LeSean McCoy, Darwin Thompson, or Spencer Ware, you can play it a little safer. Of course, even if Williams does not play, we don’t really know which of those three will get the most work.

This is a backfield to stay away from if possible, regardless of Williams’ game status. If you’re desperate, so be it, but the best recommendation is to look elsewhere in Week 16.
