Gardner Minshew to start in place of Nick Foles in Week 14

The Jaguars season has been a mess. Maybe Minshew Mania can shake it up

The Jacksonville Jaguars are making a change at quarterback heading into Week 14. The team announced it will be benching Nick Foles and moving Gardner Minshew back into the starting lineup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Minshew replaced Foles in the second half of Week 13 after Foles threw an interception and lost two fumbles in a 28-11 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Jaguars signed Foles to be their starter, but after he fractured his collarbone in Week 1, Minshew replaced him. The rookie impressed early on, throwing nine touchdowns to one interception in his first five games. However, he came back to earth and was eventually benched after a two interception performance against the Texans in Week 9.

Foles returned to the starting lineup in Week 11 after the Jaguars bye, and steadily got worse each week. He was benched at halftime of a loss that just about killed the Jaguars faint playoff hopes. Jacksonville is 4-8 and sitting three games back of the wild card and four back in the division with four weeks remaining.
