How to watch and what to watch in the Frisco Bowl between Utah State and Kent State

NFL scouts will be eyeing this one up as QB Jordan Love plays his final college game in the Frisco Bowl between Kent State and Utah State. We break it down, along with a best bet for the game.

UPDATE: The betting public is backing the favorite, although a bit more from a money line perspective. 56 percent of the point spread handle is on Utah State -7, while 72 percent of the money line handle is on Utah state at -225. A slim majority (51%) of tickets bet on the point total are hitting the under, but a huge percentage of the point total handle (75%) is on the over.

It’s the second bowl game on the schedule, but the Frisco Bowl will likely be the first bowl game most of the country will get a chance to see on Friday night between the Utah State Aggies and Kent State Golden Flashes.

It has been a bit of a disappointing year for Utah State in Gary Andersen’s return as the head coach. The Aggies went from an 11-2 season last year to 8-4 in 2019 going into the bowl game.

Utah State quarterback Jordan Love declared for the NFL Draft and will be playing in his final game. After a fantastic sophomore season, it’s been a struggle this year for him with 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

On the other side, Kent State quarterback Dustin Crum threw 18 touchdowns with two interceptions and is completing 68% of his passes.

Game Time/TV Channel/Streaming

The Frisco Bowl will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET in Frisco, Texas on Friday, Dec. 20 and can be seen on ESPN2 and WatchESPN.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds, Trends

Spread: Utah State (-7.5) vs. Kent State
Point Total: 66 O/U (-110)
Money line: Aggies (-315), Golden Flashes (+245)

- The point total has gone under in seven of Utah State’s last 10 games.

- Kent State is 6-1 against the spread in its last seven games.

- The total has gone over in four of Kent State’s last six games.

The Best Bet

Jordan Love has one final chance to impress NFL scouts before his college career ends, and I think he shows why he’s leaving college early. However, that does not mean I am taking Utah State to cover because the Kent State offense puts up some points too, and the Aggies struggle defensively at times. Both teams have high-tempo offenses and don’t care much at all about time of possession. We’re about to see a good ol’ fashion shootout in the Frisco Bowl.

Pick: Over 66
