The good news is for these teams, someone is going to walk out with a win! The Panthers are riding a six-game losing streak while the Colts sit with a four-game losing streak. Even with the amount of talent the Panthers have, they’ve simply been walloped as of late, allowing an average of 31 points per game during this losing streak. It’ll be interesting to see how Christian McCaffrey handles this Colts run defense, which has been one of tougher in the league. They allow an average of 85 rushing and 40 receiving and only six total touchdowns to running backs. While McCaffrey feels matchup proof, let’s not forget the Buccaneers have stopped him before. DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel will be in really good spots against a banged-up Colts’ secondary. With the Panthers as the underdogs here, these two can potentially feast on a secondary allowing an average of 13.6 YPR.
The Colts are favored for the seventh time this season but hold just a 3-3 record ATS in this scenario. It’s hard to trust a team that is simply ravaged by injuries in so many key places. The biggest spot for the Colts to find success will come through Marlon Mack, who finally draws a favorable matchup. The Panthers run defense have been amongst the worst in the league and allow an average of 123 yards on the ground and a league-leading 23 rushing touchdowns. The Panthers secondary has really taken a 180 spin since the beginning of the year but it’s hard to rely upon Jacoby Brissett with the cast of receivers he’s been left with. Even when T.Y. Hilton was active last week he only made four receptions on nine targets for 25 yards, giving him an average of 6.2 YPR. For a team that’s favored, it’s hard to find a lot to like about the Colts in Week 16.
