Bills-Patriots game offers playoff implications in Week 16

Both the Patriots and Bills are in the playoffs, but this week they will jockey for position as they go head-to-head.

UPDATE: The Patriots beat the Bills 24-17 to clinch the AFC East. They can clinch a first round bye on Sunday with a Chiefs loss.

The Bills still have a small chance to win the NFC East but it would take a beating the patriots in Foxboro then beating the Jets while the Patriots lose to Miami. That’s a tall order but New England is vulnerable at the moment and it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility.

The Patriots just need to beat the Bills to win the division and then the Dolphins to secure a playoff bye. Tom Brady’s elbow and Julian Edelman’s whole body injury is probably their biggest obstacle to getting a first round bye this season, as they’ve beaten both the Bills and Dolphins with ease this season.

The Bills odds to take the AFC East are slim at +1200 but Brady and Edelman’s injuries make the odds look a little better. Neither will miss this week but neither are playing as well as they could if healthy. Buffalo could grind out a win in New England but the real test would be for Miami to do the same.
