Both Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods have seen plus target volume this season, each ranking in the top 14 among WR in targets. Both have translated their target volume into a lot of catches, with Kupp ranking eighth in receptions (83) among WR and Woods ranking 11th in receptions (75).
The trio of Kupp, Woods and Brandin Cooks are all coming off subpar volume performances against the Cowboys last week, as each recorded fewer than 50 receiving yards, although Kupp was able to get into the end zone for his eighth receiving TD, tied for third most on the season.
Fantasy football analysis: Rams WRs Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks
The Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16, who have been banged up on defense, particularly in their secondary. Last week, DBs Richard Sherman (hamstring), Jaquiski Tartt (ribs) and K’Waun Williams (concussion) were unable to play due to injury, along with DL Dee Ford (quad, hamstring). Sherman and Williams are trending towards returning this week as both were removed from the final injury report, while Tartt and Ford were ruled out on the final injury report.
The health of the 49ers’ defense will impact the Rams’ passing game, as the 49ers have been among the best defenses in the league. San Francisco has allowed the fewest passing yards and the sixth fewest DraftKings fantasy points per game to WR. San Francisco has also recorded the third most sacks and limited QBs to the fifth lowest passer rating.
Provided the 49ers get some of their pieces back on defense, this appears to be a rough matchup for the Rams’ offense. All three of Kupp, Woods and Cooks were held to single digit DraftKings fantasy points in their first matchup against the 49ers this season, and the Rams managed to score just seven total points. That said, both Kupp and Woods still carry fantasy value despite the matchup with their target volume, and Kupp is a TD threat with plus red zone targets.
