What to do with Breshad Perriman, Justin Watson in Week 16 fantasy football

The Bucs high-flying passing attack is missing some key weapons, but the backups are intriguing in their own right. We break down the Week 16 fantasy football start/sit considerations.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are extremely banged up at WR, as both Mike Evans (hamstring) and Scott Miller (hamstring) have been placed on injured reserve and Chris Godwin (hamstring) is not going to be inactive for Week 16. With Evans, Miller, and Godwin all sidelined, Breshad Perriman and Justin Watson are primed for expanded roles. Perriman played on a season-high 89% of snaps last week with Evans out, and Watson also saw a significantly boosted snap rate, playing on 56% of snaps after barely playing prior to Week 14. Perriman took advantage of the boosted role last week, exploding for three touchdowns while securing five of six targets for 113 yards.

Fantasy football analysis: Tampa Bay Buccaneers WRs Breshad Perriman and Justin Watson

Tampa Bay loves to pass the ball, as they are tied for the second most pass attempts and have generated the most passing yards. QB Jameis Winston also throws the ball down the field at a high rate, averaging just over 10 air yards per pass attempt, second highest among qualified QBs. Due to the boost in snaps combined with Tampa Bay’s pass-heavy offense, both Perriman and Watson carry start appeal in a matchup against the Houston Texans, who have allowed the sixth highest passer rating to QBs and fifth most passing yards per game. Perriman is the better start candidate given his stronger workload, while Watson is a start candidate in deeper leagues.
