How to handle D.J. Chark injury in Week 16 fantasy football

Jaguars wide receiver D.J. Chark is questionable for Week 16. We break down the fantasy football implications for him and Dede Westbrook

UPDATE: Chark is officially ACTIVE.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver D.J. Chark has had a breakout season, and it looks like we can expect him back after a one-week injury absence. Chark is listed as questionable with an ankle injury, but Doug Marrone said on Friday that he expects Chark to play on Sunday.

“He was limited today, but he didn’t miss that much,” [Marrone] said. “He’s done a great job. He’s a guy who has soon as he was injured, he was like: ‘I’m going to play. I’m going to be back next week.’ He wasn’t, but the attitude … that’s what you want to see.

“I think it’s that attitude that has put him in a position that he should be able to play this week. That helps us.”

Chark injured the ankle in Week 14 and missed Week 15. This week, he was limited in all three practice sessions.

Fantasy football analysis: Jaguars WR D.J. Chark

The Jaguars quarterback situation has been hit or miss all season, but Chark has been consistently productive. He’s been targeted at least five times in all but one game, he’s scored at least one touchdown in six games, and he’s had at least four receptions in all but three games.

Chark and the Jaguars face a Falcons defense that has given up the fifth most fantasy points to quarterbacks and the 16th most fantasy points to wide receivers. They held Michael Thomas to six receptions for 48 yards in Week 13, but gave up seven receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns to Chris Godwin in Week 12.

Chark is worth starting in almost all formats this week. Dede Westbrook takes a hit in Chark’s return, although even last week against Oakland he only caught two passes on four targets. He’s worth considering in PPR leagues, but is far from a must start.
