What to do with Kerryon Johnson, Bo Scarbrough in Week 16 fantasy football

Even though he’s fresh off the IR, Kerryon Johnson should have the edge here.

Kerryon Johnson is back in the mix for the Detroit Lions after being activated from the IR ahead of the team’s Week 16 matchup with the Denver Broncos. The running back was highly productive before undergoing knee surgery following an injury he suffered in Week 7. Now the Lions will have to decide where he fits in as 2019 nears its end.

Bo Scarbrough filled in for Johnson during his hiatus, but suffered an injury of his own in Week 14 against the Vikings. Scarbrough (ribs) didn’t play in Week 15 and has been limited in practice since Wednesday. Should he be ruled out for Week 16, Johnson could have his expected workload increased in his first game back.

Fantasy Football analysis: Lions RBs Kerryon Johnson, Bo Scarbrough

In four weeks of work, Bo Scarbrough totaled 301 rushing yards on 72 carries. He has scored one touchdown while only catching one pass. On the other hand, Johnson tallied 308 yards on 92 attempts while also showing more versatility out of the backfield as a pass catcher. If both players are available come Sunday, it’s clear that Johnson will offer more flexibility.

Start/Sit Recommendation:

Detroit has used its second and third string running backs sparingly, so you should start Johnson and sit Scarbrough because of his diverse skillset and the lack of other quality options.
