The Minnesota Vikings host the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football to close out Week 16, and Minnesota will be shorthanded at running back. Dalvin Cook was ruled out with a shoulder injury and Alexander Mattison was listed as questionable with an ankle injury. Mattison is now expected to sit, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Vikings clinched a wild card berth with the Los Angeles Rams loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday. Minnesota can still clinch the NFC North, but they would need to beat Green Bay and Chicago AND would need the Packers to lose in Detroit next week. It’s not entirely unrealistic, but given how Detroit is playing, it’s not likely.
If this holds up, Mike Boone will get the start against a bad Packers run defense. If you can snag Boone off waivers, do so. If you were hoping to use Mattison in your championship game, you can likely release him if you need some help elsewhere on your roster.
