Bill O’Brien says Texans will play to win in Week 17

Coach Bill O’Brien says Texans will play their starters but will he?

Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien says that he won’t rest any of his players and his team will play to win in Week 17 when they face the Titans. DeShaun Watson did appear to hurt his ankle in Week 16 and played through the injury, so it would seem counterintuitive to send him out there with little or no reason to play but we shall see.

The Texans have the No. 4 seed wrapped up in the playoffs but have a slim chance to move up to the No. 3 seed if Kansas City were to lose to the Chargers and the Texans beat the Titans. That isn’t a huge difference but it does mean the Texans could avoid the Bills and play whoever gets the No. 6 seed between the Steelers, Titans and Raiders.

The Chargers don’t have much of a shot at beating the Chiefs and they play an early game, while the Texans play a late game. There’s a good chance Houston won’t even have the No. 3 seeding to play for, but either way, Watson still feels like a long shot to play if his ankle is hurting in the slightest.
