Betting split update: The betting public thinks Miami is going to handle their business in the Independence Bowl. The Hurricanes are a touchdown favorite and -265 on the money line. 68 percent of the point spread handle and 61 percent of tickets bet are on the Hurricanes. 58 percent of the money line handle is on the Hurricanes, but 59 percent of the tickets bet are on the underdog Bulldogs. The money is the more important figure, but it’s notable that a majority of folks submitted a longshot wager. The public is backing over the point total of 49 to the tune of 52 percent of the handle and 65 percent of tickets bet.
The Miami Hurricanes are set for a matchup with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in the Independence Bowl. As it is every year, bowl game motivation is key when deciding where to put your money. Miami is 6-6 playing Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl. I’m not exactly sure how much the Hurricanes players will care about this one.
Bowl game trends typically don’t mean all that much, but this is an interesting one. Miami is 2-10 in its last 12 bowl games, and Louisiana Tech is 6-1 in its last seven.
Louisiana Tech finished the season 9-3, and two of its losses came when quarterback J’Mar Smith sat out with a suspension.

- The total has gone under in 12 of Louisiana Tech’s last 18 games.
The Best Bet
Miami obviously has the more talented team, but will the Hurricanes be up for a bowl game against a Group of 5 school? History suggests they will not be. Another important statistic going against Miami is third down conversions where the Hurricanes are dead last in college football in conversion rate. I like the Bulldogs as the underdog and may even take them on the money line.
Pick: Louisiana Tech +6
