How and what to watch in the Holiday Bowl between USC and Iowa

Will Iowa keep up with a USC offense that finished on a hot streak? We’ll find out as the Trojans and Hawkeyes meet up in the Holiday Bowl. We break down what to watch, how to watch via live online stream, and a best bet.

UPDATE: The betting public at DraftKings Sportsbook likes Iowa in the Holiday Bowl. 67 percent of the handle and 57 percent of the tickets bet on the point spread (Iowa -1) are on the Hawkeyes. 52 percent of both the money line handle and tickets bet are on Iowa (-122) over USC (+100).

In this year’s Holiday Bowl matchup, the USC Trojans battle the slight favorite Iowa Hawkeyes.

Iowa football did exactly what Iowa football does every season. Get to that eight or nine win mark, get into something like the Holiday Bowl and try to get yourself to finish on a high note. The Hawkeyes are never too high, never too low.

The motivation factor probably leans toward USC because Clay Helton needs a bowl win more than anybody to at least somewhat quiet down the fan base that no longer wants him in charge of Trojans football.

Game Time/TV Channel/Streaming

The San Diego Credit Union Holiday Bowl will begin at 8:00 p.m. ET in San Diego, California on Friday, Dec. 27 and can be seen on FS1 and FOXSportsGo.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds, Trends

Spread: Iowa (-2) vs. USC
Point Total: 51.5 O/U (-110)
Money line: Hawkeyes (-130), Trojans (+107)

- The total went under in six of Iowa’s last eight games.

- USC is 5-2 against the spread in its last seven games.

- The total went over in the last five games for USC.

The Best Bet

I’m not sure if Iowa keeps up with the USC offense, which finished the season on an absolute tear, scoring at least 31 points in five of its last six games. Freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis threw for over 400 yards in four of his last five games. Iowa played in low-scoring games all season long, so the under might be a good play, but I’m going with the Trojans to finish up strong.

Pick: USC +2
