New Orleans Pelicans PG Jrue Holiday would prefer to be traded to a winning team this season, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Friday.

Holiday’s name has popped up in multiple spots since Trade Season in the NBA started a few weeks ago. The NBA Trade Deadline isn’t until February 6th, but there’s been a lot of hot stove talk revolving around Holiday, who is in the third year of his contract with the Pelicans. The Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat are two teams who could be interested in Holiday, per Charania.

Shams also reports that the trade market will likely run through New Orleans, which is still mulling over whether or not the team should tank the season. Zion Williamson has been sidelined with a knee injury and the roster hasn’t been fully healthy all season. But how long would GM David Griffin wait until blowing things up? Things may not get better and if the team decides to keep Holiday, J.J. Redick and veteran forward Derrick Favors, they would lose out on potential assets.

If Holiday were to be dealt to a contender, I imagine Brandon Ingram would become an even more valuable fantasy basketball asset. This would also free up Lonzo Ball for a bigger role as the starting PG, while Jaxson Hayes and Josh Hart would benefit from the departures of Redick and Favors.
