This is the Super Bowl for the Group of 5 teams, and Memphis has been given that spot. Unfortunately we know what typically happens when a school from a smaller conference has incredible success.
The coaches leave.
Memphis will be going into this one with its head coach and defensive coordinator. Both of its play callers are gone. The last time this happened for Memphis was in 2015 when the Tigers were blown out by Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl.

The Best Bet
It’s always difficult to know what will happen with coaching changes right before a bowl game, but I’m inclined to take Penn State in this one. James Franklin appears to be a good motivator, and the Cotton Bowl is a big enough game where the care factor should not be an issue for the Nittany Lions, who will win this game by double digits.
Pick: Penn State -7
