Best Week 17 DFS options: Ezekiel Elliott or Derrick Henry

Who should you pay up for in Week 17 DFS? Derrick Henry or Ezekiel Elliott?

Ezekiel Elliott ($8,100) and Derrick Henry ($8,100) both are in matchups where their team needs a win to get them into the playoffs. Both running backs have played well this season, as you can see by their similar numbers:

2019 Stats: Patriots vs. Saints

Team DKAvg PA Pass Yds Rush Yds
Team DKAvg PA Pass Yds Rush Yds
Patriots 15.1 12 170.7 97.7
Saints 8.3 22 238.7 94.7

Elliott holds a slight edge, especially at DraftKings, as he sees more work through the air, but it has been close, with Henry averaging 19.5 DK points to Elliott’s 20.3. The trouble for Henry has been a recent hamstring injury but he was able to rest it last week and returned to full practices this week as they prepare for the Texans.

Daily fantasy football analysis: Derrick Henry, Ezekiel Elliott

Of course both of these running backs are worth inserting into your lineups this week, but paying up for the two is going to be a problem. Henry will face a Texans team that will likely rest a few key defensive players, as they won’t have anything to play for if Kansas City beats the Chargers in the early game, which they probably will. As long as Henry is a full go, which practice reports suggest, he should be a workhorse in this must-win affair.

Henry wasn’t at full strength the last time these teams played and he had one of his worst games in Week 15 when he rushed 21 times for 86 yards and no touchdowns. With that workload again for a healthier Henry against a team with no reason to play their key players, he should have much better results.

Elliott on the other hand has been healthy and playing well of late, that is, until last week against the Eagles, where the Cowboys could get nothing going. But even in that loss, Elliott managed 15.7 DK points without a touchdown due to his seven receptions. That isn’t going to happen for Henry.

Washington doesn’t have anything to play for, but beating Dallas in Dallas to keep them out of the playoffs should give them a little spark to finish the season. Washington has given up the third-most DK points on the season to running backs and have been roasted by Saquon Barkley, Miles Sanders and Aaron Jones over their last three games. Add in the fact that Dak Prescott’s shoulder is not 100 percent and there is a good chance the Cowboys rely on Elliott this week.

Daily fantasy recommendation

Ezekiel Elliott is the choice between these two top plays.
