The Dolphins head into New England with very little to play for, while the Patriots will be doing their best to earn a first round bye in the post-season. This game has a massive 16.5 point spread, which will make things interesting from a fantasy perspective. Let’s check out some of the best plays for DraftKings Showdown.
Captain Obvious
Tom Brady, QB, Patriots ($16,500)
Julian Edelman is questionable for Sunday’s game, but even if he is limited, Brady should be able to have a day against this Dolphin defense. They rank dead last in pass defense by Football Outsiders DVOA. Brady has yet to hit 30 DKFP on the year, but he is a high-floor option for you to consider as a captain, and should still be among the highest scorers in the game.
Captain Courageous
Sony Michel, RB, Patriots ($12,600)
In a game that the Patriots should win rather easily, there is plenty of touchdown upside to be had in Michel, who has at least 19 carries and 89 rushing yards each of the past two weeks. He isn’t going to catch many passes, but that isn’t a huge deal. Michel leads New England in rushing touchdowns, and could easily see two or three as the team attempts to salt this game away.
Flex Men
Patrick Laird, RB, Dolphins ($4,800)
Aside from being a fantasy folk hero, Laird is an excellent play in this game because he should see most of the running back work. Myles Gaskin is out, and his only competition for touches are De’Lance Turner and Chandler Cox. Laird caught 96 passes in his final two years at Cal, making him a target for Miami in the passing game also. This is simply way too cheap.
Nick Folk, K, Patriots ($4,000)
New England has not had the most explosive offense this year, ranking just 11th in DVOA. Just barely above average, and with a chance to be running out the clock late, there could be a handful of field goal attempts in this game. Folk has 12 DKFP in each of his last two games, making him a dependable, cheap play for Showdown players.
