Best lineup strategy for Titans vs. Texans in DraftKings Showdown

This game may be meaningless for Houston by the time kick-off rolls around. But we’ll try and get you prepared with lineup strategy for the DraftKings Showdown contest.

UDPATE: DeShaun Watson is active, but expected to sit. DeAndre Hopkins is active, but also expected to sit.

We’ve come to the end of the regular season and there are plenty of games with playoff implications on tap for Week 17. The Houston Texans will host the Tennessee Titans to close out the season in a game that could be meaningless for the Texans if the Kansas City Chiefs end up winning in the 1:00 p.m. ET window against the Los Angeles Chargers.

This would lock the Texans into the No. 4 seed, so it’s important to consider the Texans may sit players very suddenly. Coach Bill O’Brien has said Houston will play to win, but we can’t trust that will happen the entire game. So anyway, we’ll provide some lineup advice for the Showdown contest on DraftKings the best we can.

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS

Ryan Tannehill ($18,600)

It’s not every day you recommend somebody should obviously play Tannehill in a fantasy football contest. Oh wait, that happens pretty frequently now right? Tannehill has found a home finally with the Titans and has them in position to take the No. 6 seed in the AFC. He has at least 23 FPTS in four of five games and is the player with the most to play for in this contest. I’m fine paying up in this scenario, especially if we’re going to get discounts on Texans players who are thrust into bigger roles if the Chiefs win.

CAPTAIN COURAGEOUS

Keke Coutee ($4,200)

#FreeKeke. We need to get this trending. So not only might the Texans have nothing to play for, but Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins and Kenny Stills are all listed as questionable. If there’s no point in playing, we could see plenty of guys sit. Coutee is healthy but has been benched by O’Brien because, well, who knows. Coutee would essentially have to play snaps if Hopkins and Stills sit and he’s pretty cheap in the Captain’s Spot. We’ve seen big games from Coutee in the past as well. If you’re feeling crazy, Keke isn’t a bad option.

FLEX MEN

Derrick Henry ($11,000)

Henry is off the injury report heading into Week 17 and the Titans really need a win in this game to hold onto a playoff spot. I imagine after missing last week’s contest Tennessee wants to be cautious with Henry, but the Titans also don’t want him going into the playoffs without much reps in back-to-back weeks. If Henry is healthy enough I think he’ll get a normal workload, and we already know the Texans could be resting regulars on an already shaky defense.

DeAndre Carter ($1,200)

As I alluded to before, if the Texans sit guys or if Hopkins, Stills and Watson are sidelined, we should see a lot of Coutee and Carter at WR. Carter has been getting snaps, 29 last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday. He caught a couple passes for 44 yards, so he’s got some big play ability. At this price we’re getting big savings and that’ll allow us to stack the Titans, including Tannehill, Henry and WR A.J. Brown ($10,000).
