Whether Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray plays agains the Los Angeles Rams in Week 17 will be a game-time decision. The top pick in the 2019 NFL Draft tweaked his hamstring during a win over the Seahawks in Week 16. He was limited in practice on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

While Murray hasn’t been a full participant, backup signal caller Brett Hundley has taken most of the reps with starters. Hundley has thrown just 10 passes this year, completing four of them for 49 yards.

Murray has had a decent rookie season but could face a difficult challenge on Sunday. He only threw for 118 yards against Seattle in Week 16 before leaving the game injured and would to have to follow that performance up by facing the Rams’ top-10 passing defense.

A less mobile Murray could hinder the Cardinals’ offensive ceiling, so sitting him this week is a smart move. Plus if he’s still hobbled and hasn’t gone game speed at all come Sunday, he’ll likely be sat down for Hundley. Murray is too valuable of an asset to waste on a meaningless game.
