You probably didn’t think Dak Prescott ($6,300) and Ryan Tannehill ($6,800) would be in the same DFS tear at any point this year when the season started, but here we are. The Titans’ Tannehill has climbed the quarterback totem pole since winning the starting job from Marcus Mariota. Is he a better option than Dallas’ Prescott against Washington in Week 17 though? We break it down here.
2019 Statistics: Dak Prescott vs. Ryan Tannehill
Prescott averages more DKFP (22.5) than Tannehill (20.4), but hasn’t played very well lately. Meanwhile. Tannehill has been the driving force behind Tennessee’s resurgence and has played extremely well to keep his team’s playoff hopes alive. Several factors must be taken into account when deciding between these two signal callers.
Daily fantasy football analysis: Dak Prescott, Ryan Tannehill
The Cowboys have slipped into mediocrity after starting off the season on a high note, and a win on Sunday could help vault them into the playoffs, despite their poor performance against quality teams this year. Prescott matching up against a Washington defense that forked up 41 points to the Giants in Week 16 seems ideal. The threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns against Washington in Week 2 while rushing for a season-high 69 yards. But he’s also been dealing with a nagging shoulder injury and failed to score a touchdown against the Eagles’ lowly secondary last week. Can Prescott bounce back from a bad outing and come in clutch when his team needs him most? I’m a little skeptical about his ability to do so.
Enter Tannehill. After being cast out by the Dolphins, the 31-year-old has found new life. The thing with this quarterback that stands out his his consistency. He hasn’t dipped under double-digits in DKFP in all nine of his starts this year and has hit a nice stride down the back stretch of the 2019 season. Tannehill has thrown for multiple touchdowns in six straight contests. No other quarterback in Sunday’s 15-game slate has a longer streak. Even better, he’ll face a Texans secondary that’s given up the third-most passing yards in the NFL this season.
Tannehill seems like the logical pick here. He’s healthy, on a roll, and facing a significantly worse secondary than Prescott is. Look for him to put up some big numbers against Houston.
