DeShaun Watson active for Week 17, but likely to get rest

DeShaun Watson is active, but will be a backup as the Texans rest key starters against the Titans.

The Houston Texans released their inactives for Week 17, and they have made quarterback DeShaun Watson ACTIVE for the game. The team announced that wide receivers Kenny Stills and Will Fuller and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil are all inactive.

The Texans will know by kickoff if they can improve from the No. 4 to No. 3 seed, but even with that in play, they seem content to rest some players and treat Week 17 as a mini-bye.

The team is expected to sit Watson for this game and start A.J. McCarron, according to beat writer Aaron Wilson. Watson is an emergency option at quarterback if McCarron gets hurt, but the Texans will be hoping they don’t need to insert Watson in this game.

If the Texans lock in to the No. 4 seed, they will host the Buffalo Bills in the wild card round of the playoffs. The Bills rested several of their starters as well in Week 17.
